About Blue Mountain Pottery

Blue Mountain Pottery was a company founded in 1947 in Collingwood, Ontario. The company ceased trading in 2004. There are many collectors of this beautiful pottery all over the world which produces a lively 2nd hand market.

The pottery features a unique glazing process known as “reflowing decorating” which involves the use of two liquid glazes - one light and one dark. During the firing process, these two glazes would run together, producing the streaking patterns which give Blue Mountain Pottery its unique and individual finish.

Although called Blue Mountain Pottery, the most popular colour was always the green. What many people will not know is that the pottery was also produced in many other colours including red, brown, mocha, pewter and harvest gold.
