Back in the late 1990s, LEDs were just beginning to show. In the early days they had only worked out how to power blue LEDs and the Sapphire was one of the first torches on the market with the extremely bright blue light.
Many teenage boys realised they could imitate a police car when you shined it into the rear view mirror of the car in front!
At the time the battery and lens was “guaranteed for life”. Not sure if that still stands. I’ve still got one in my bedside draw which no longer works. Perhaps I’ll test out the guarantee :-
